Notre Dame lands commitment from elite 2026 tight end prospect
Notre Dame earned a commitment from 4-star tight end Ian Premer on Thursday afternoon.
One of the biggest prizes of the Class of 2026, Premer announced his commitment to Notre Dame on his social media account. He showed his pure excitement in heading to South Bend by writing: “Here come the Irish!! Home,” and Premer made sure to add 2 shamrock emojis on his social media message.
Premer is listed at 6-foot-6, 230 pounds, so he’s a huge target. He is a star at Great Bend High School in Great Bend, Kansas. Premer chose Notre Dame over Iowa State, as well as the 2 big in-state schools, Kansas and Kansas State, which makes this recruiting victory an even bigger 1 for the Fighting Irish. The Wildcats were viewed by some as the favorite to win this battle.
The 247Sports Composite rankings show how much of a prize Premer is. He is the 44th-ranked player in the Class of 2026, the fourth-ranked tight end in the class, and the top-ranked player from the state of Kansas.
Premer has 62 receptions for 1,079 and 17 touchdowns over his last 20 appearances.
With Premer’s announcement, Notre Dame’s 2026 class is now at 22 known commits. The class is ranked second behind only USC, according to 247Sports, and includes 19 4-star players and 3 3-star players.
Premer is a big-time athlete away from the football field, too, starring as a forward on the basketball team.
