Oklahoma beats out Notre Dame, other top programs for DL recruit
Oklahoma won a major recruiting battle on Monday night.
The Sooners landed a commitment from Sione Felila, beating out the likes of Notre Dame, Oregon and others for his pledge. Felila is regarded as a top defensive lineman in the nation for the 2027 recruiting cycle.
He shared the news of his commitment with On3’s Hayes Fawcett:
Oklahoma offered Felila a scholarship back in February. The Sooners have had a lot of success recruiting elite defensive linemen in recent years and they’ll be hoping Felila can add to that legacy.

Felia is currently ranked as the No. 724 overall player and the No. 81 defensive lineman in the nation for this cycle, per 247Sports Composite rankings. A 3-star prospect, Felia is also the No. 59 player from the state of California.
It’s possible Felia will see that ranking improve over the coming months. He attends Oak Hills High School in Hesperia, California. Felila is listed at 6-foot-2, 285 pounds.
Led by Brent Venables, the Sooners are putting together what looks to be an elite recruiting class in 2027. Oklahoma currently has the nation’s No. 1-ranked class, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
