Facing guys like Auburn DE Carl Lawson and Texas A&M DE Myles Garrett isn’t easy for even the best SEC offensive linemen, let alone one without any starting experience.

Ole Miss redshirt freshman OL Alex Givens is learning that quickly, as he’s taken over at right tackle for the Rebels.

According to The Clarion-Ledger, Givens said he knows whatever lumps he takes this season will pay off next year:

“It’s been a really good learning experience,” Givens said. “Going against people that good in the future, that’ll really benefit me.”

As he gets used to to speed of the SEC, Givens is gaining more confidence:

“The beginning was (about adapting to) the speed of the game,” Givens said. “But after awhile I’ve caught up to it and I think I’ve gotten comfortable out there.”

Givens has a chance to show how much he’s improved over the next two weeks as the Rebels take on Vanderbilt and Mississippi State.
