Out of Baxter (Tennessee) Upperman High School, Johnson is listed as measuring over 6-4 and 235 pounds. On the 247Sports Composite, Johnson is rated 3-stars, the No. 28 player in the state of Tennessee, No. 34 tight end and No. 633 prospect overall in the Class of 2027.

Johnson collected a whopping 55 scholarship offers during his recruitment. Arkansas, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Ohio State, Oregon, Tennessee and Vanderbilt are among the schools that showed interest in Johnson.

Ole Miss hosted Johnson for a visit in late May. In June, Johnson visited Purdue, Alabama, North Carolina and Florida State. He decided that Oxford was home, and announced his commitment to the Rebels on Thursday.

With Johnson on board, Ole Miss now has 22 commitments for 2027. The class ranks No. 12 nationally on the Composite.
