The Ole Miss Rebels are set to hire Miami’s Cody Woodiel as their new tight ends coach and co-offensive coordinator, according to a report from CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz. The Mississippi native will join Pete Golding‘s staff.

Woodiel has spent the past 4 seasons with the Hurricanes. In 2022, he joined the staff as an offensive analyst, where he helped coach tight end Will Mallory. Mallory was later drafted in the 2023 NFL Draft. In 2023, Woodiel entered his first season as the Hurricanes’ tight ends coach.

In 2023, due to injuries at the position, the tight end production was near nonexistent. In 2024, the group was led by Elijah Arroyo, who went on to be a second-round pick. In 2025, Miami saw the tight end production dip slightly.

Woodiel has worked with Mario Cristobal since 2017, when he joined the Oregon Ducks coaching staff as an offensive graduate assistant. He spent 3 seasons there before following Cristobal to Miami.

In his playing days, Woodiel split time between tackle, guard, and tight end for 2 seasons at Troy. He was selected to play in the Casino Del Sol all-star game as a senior at Troy. He started all 12 games that year and played 800 snaps.
