Original concept uniforms for the Tennessee Volunteers

As we discussed during our roundup of the league’s best alternate uniforms this past season, we had high praise for Tennessee’s “smokey grey” look:

One of the league’s most anticipated alternates this season during Tennessee’s first year with the Swoosh, the Vols’ two-toned smokey grey was well-executed — better than those other grey monstrosities worn during the Adidas era. Nike stepped it up with additional ‘Power 5’ details with heavy orange accents throughout. Tennessee’s helmet featured an outline of the Smoky Mountains, a standout detail for originality. The double-layered orange stripe down the center of the helmet that fades to the familiar checkerboard really completes this look.

Given the success that Tennessee had with its alternate look, where do we turn to get even more creative and provide an additional uniform concept for the Vols?

We landed on utilizing the checkerboard pattern in the jerseys and introducing several outside-the-box helmet designs.

Have a look below and chime in with your thoughts in the comments section.
