The Navy Midshipmen are giving No. 5 Notre Dame everything they have entering the halftime break. Notre Dame leads by just 1, 14-13.

Navy’s triple option offense has Notre Dame dumbfounded after the first 30 minutes. The Midshipmen have already rushed for 163 yards and 1 touchdown at an average of 4.7 yards per carry. Navy even took a brief lead over the Fighting Irish with just a few minutes before the break.

As alluded to, that lead didn’t last long. Navy’s defense was unable to keep Nolan James Jr. out of the end zone in the ensuing 2-minute drill, as the Notre Dame RB rushed for a 52-yard TD with just under a minute remaining.

Still, there should be no underselling Navy’s dominance on offense thus far. The Midshipmen have completely controlled the time of possession, possessing the ball for 23 minutes and 33 seconds of the first 30 minutes.

Fans took to social media following Notre Dame’s defensive struggles, with some insisting the Fighting Irish are overrated while others declare them wholly unready and undeserving of a spot in the College Football Playoff.

Here’s some of the best reactions we found:
