Pat McAfee delivers electric pick for Ohio State-Texas to close College GameDay

It’s hard to rival Lee Corso rocking the headgear for 30 years on College GameDay. That said, Pat McAfee routinely does his best to add some flair to the show’s final segment. On Saturday morning, his efforts brought a flyover to the show.
When wrapping up College GameDay in Austin ahead of a matchup between the Ohio State Buckeyes and Texas Longhorns, McAfee said he needed “a sign” to pick the hometown Longhorns over the visiting Buckeyes. He got one in a T-38C military formation passing by the GameDay set.

“Ohio State has won a national championship a lot sooner than Texas has won one. Ryan Day’s been to the mountain top. [Steve] Sarkisian hasn’t been,” McAfee said. “Sayin’s unbelievable. They’ve got Jeremiah Smith, Texas doesn’t… give me Arch Manning and [Cam] Coleman to get a huge win today.”
The Longhorns’ offense struggled immensely on the road against the Buckeyes last season, scoring just once in their 14-7 loss. Manning did not have Coleman to rely upon in that matchup, but the Auburn transfer receiver should play a big role for his new quarterback today. Ohio State and Texas face off under the lights in Austin at 7:30 p.m. ET (ABC).
