Patrick Queen was admittedly upset when the Baltimore Ravens declined his 5th year option in May, making him a free agent following this season.
However, the former LSU linebacker is reportedly no longer concerned about his contract situation. On Monday, Queen spoke with the Baltimore Banner’s Jonas Shaffer and explained his current mindset heading into the 2023 season.
“At the end of the day, I get to play football in the National Football League, so that’s a blessing in itself,” Queen told Shaffer. “I talk to [John Harbaugh] Harbs, talk to [General Manager] Eric [DeCosta]. Everything is good and selling right now. I’m not focused on the contract. I’m just looking to play ball. I mean, at the end of the day, I get to go out here and play football and make my market what I want it to be.”
Queen’s first 3 seasons in the NFL have been strong. He’s totaled 321 tackles with 28 for loss and 10 sacks after being drafted in the first round out of LSU in 2020 NFL Draft.
Queen also noted that this upcoming season will outdo anything he’s done in the NFL up to this point.
“I definitely haven’t even gotten close to the surface of the player I can be, and everybody around here knows it,” Queen said. “I think people around the league know it. And that’s why I’m out here just trying to get better, trying to compete, trying to just master my craft. And I think when I do that, I think the whole league’s going to be on notice.”
