Auburn fans are hyped for their potential journey this 2021 season after a 2-0 start. In Week 1, Auburn dominated Akron at home 60-10. The following week, Auburn hosted Alabama State and dominated them 62-0. This upcoming weekend is the real test for No. 22 Auburn as they go on the road to take on No. 10 Penn State.
Paul Finebaum, however, isn’t feeling the Auburn. Finebaum recently joined AL.com’s Mark Heim with Lee Shirvanian on WNSP-FM’s “The Opening Kickoff.” Finebaum was asked to give a reason why Auburn would pull off the upset.
“It’s difficult for me to do that,” Finebaum responded.
This game on Saturday will be played in front of a hostile Beaver Stadium crowd that will be a White Out. This Saturday will be the first White Out game since 2019 due to 2020 attendance restrictions.
Finebaum pointed to one key for a potential Auburn upset.
“You have to get out to a fast start,” Finebaum said. “It is an intimidating place on a Saturday night with the White Out.”
Overall, Finebaum mentioned the lack of potential that Auburn hasn’t shown yet.
“My gut feeling is we have bought too much into Auburn right now,” Finebaum said. “Penn State has gone out and played a really good defensive game with Wisconsin. I’d give them an edge.”
“(Auburn) played very bad competition,” Finebaum added. “Still, they look great. That’s a sign Bo Nix has some confidence in this new Mike Bobo system. Everybody seems to be buying into Bryan Harsin through two games.”
We’ll see how Finebaum’s take holds up on Saturday night.
