Paul Finebaum reacts to Arch Manning’s performance at Ohio State: ‘Mostly he was terrible’

Paul Finebaum went all-in on Texas Longhorns QB Arch Manning entering a Week 1 showdown against the reigning-champion Ohio State Buckeyes.
Finebaum went as far as to say Manning was the best player since Tim Tebow.
Patience is needed, of course, as Saturday was only Manning’s third-ever start. But let’s just say he didn’t look very Tebow-like in a 14-7 loss in Columbus on Saturday.
On Sunday morning, Finebaum made an appearance on SportsCenter and was asked about the Texas QB. He didn’t fully back off his Arch hype, but he did say Manning’s Week 1 showing was quite bad:
“It was underwhelming. He was uncomfortable. Just fill in the blank here. Mostly he was terrible,” Finebaum said. “The biggest problem he had was the other side completely outmatched him. Not only offensively and physically, but scheme-wise. I know a lot of people are hitting the panic button and saying he will be a bust. He was a bust in the first game of the season, but I don’t think he will be long-term. In the 12-team Playoff (era), there’s a lot of time to get better and I believe he will.”
Manning has a chance to regroup and improve, as the Longhorns’ next 3 games are against San Jose State, UTEP and Sam Houston, all in Austin, ahead of a Sept. 27 bye.
