For college football fans, Week 7 was one of the wildest we have ever seen. Five of the top 7 teams in the country lost, including the top two teams in Georgia and Notre Dame. Another one of those teams that lost was Alabama, who was dominated in a 26-10 loss at Tennessee.
According to ESPNโs Paul Finebaum, the loss was especially bad for the Crimson Tide and has put the program in a โdark placeโ.
“Alabama’s not done, but they are in a very dark place,” Finebaum said on the Matt Barrie Show. “I can’t tell you the amount of anger and animus that I heard as that game was coming to an end. For all of the things we have said about Kalen DeBoer, the one thing he can’t seem to do is get out of his way. Every time he gets the fan base behind him, he loses them. That is a dangerous and scary place to be.”
For Alabama, the biggest issue was that the Crimson Tide couldnโt do anything offensively. Keelon Russell threw for only 147 yards, while also throwing two interceptions. It wasnโt all on him, as the Tennessee defensive line completely dominated the game.
The Volunteers have five sacks and 10 TFLs in the game and the only points Alabama scored was short fields cause of Tennessee turnovers.
Alabama was in a similar situation last year, but was able to respond and make it to the College Football Playoff quarterfinal before losing to eventual national champion, Indiana.
Up next for the Crimson Tide is a home game against Texas A&M.
