The Tennessee Volunteers got a huge win against Kentucky on Saturday, defeating the Wildcats 33-27. Tennessee was able to dominate the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. The Volunteers were able to rush for 253 yards on 47 carries, with Jaylen Wright leading the way with 11 carries for 120 yards and 1 touchdown.
The Wildcats on the other hand, had 24 carries for 72 yards. Tennessee completely took star running back Ray Davis out of the game, as he finished with 16 carries for 42 yards.
Paul Finebaum said the win for Tennessee could have a lasting impact moving forward this year.
“What they did was save their season against Kentucky,” Finebaum said on the Matt Barrie Show on Sunday. “Because that was a game they could have lost. And they were staring at 7-5 or 8-4 had they lost that game.”
The Volunteers host UConn next Saturday, but after that the schedule gets much tougher.T he following two weeks, Tennessee will travel to Missouri and then host Georgia after that. There is still a ton of to play for on Tennessee, as they could still find themselves in a really good bowl game.
Kickoff next week against UConn is scheduled for 12 pm ET, and the game will be on the SEC Network.
