Pete Golding and Ole Miss will look to shake off a loss to Texas as they host Auburn on Saturday.

The Rebels saw Trinidad Chambliss throw three interceptions against the Longhorns in Week 8. They managed just 113 yards on the ground, and in the process lost leading rusher Kewan Lacy to a shoulder injury.

Golding, speaking on Thursday, is aware of how Auburn could attack Saturday’s game. It starts with Byrum Brown, who has 479 rushing yards and seven touchdowns to go along with his eight passing TDs. That said, he does have seven interceptions.

“You got to eliminate the quarterback run game. You got to create some negative yardage plays early to get them to obvious passing downs, so you could change the picture and the coverage for them,” Golding said. “You’ve got to be able to stop the run. I think they’re just a little more quarterback-designed than we’ve seen this year up to this point.”

Then, there’s the Tigers’ defense. Golding discussed the work defensive coordinator DJ Durkin has done at Auburn and his previous stops.

“I think Durkin’s always done a really, really good job everywhere he’s been. Obviously, a lot of familiarity with the system has gone against it several different times,” Golding said. “So, we’ll have to go back and see some things that he’s done versus us in the past, and make sure we have a good plan of what he’s done.”
