Pete Golding reveals how he kept Trinidad Chambliss, Kewan Lacy in Oxford: ‘Google Lane Kiffin’

Lane Kiffin is off to LSU, but Ole Miss stars Trinidad Chambliss and Kewan Lacy elected to stay in Oxford and not follow their former coach to Baton Rouge. For that reason, Ole Miss is set to be competitive once again in the SEC this season under head coach and former defensive coordinator Pete Golding.
While speaking at SEC Media Days on Wednesday, Golding was asked about the pitch he used to keep Chambliss and Lacy in Oxford. Golding said that he appealed to their legacy and brought up Kiffin, saying Ole Miss fans would have a similar reaction if they left to the one they had when Kiffin left.

“Football’s gonna end. What are you going to use? You gotta use an alumni base to be able to get you a job. Where are you gonna bring your kids to? What jersey are they wearing?” Golding said. “Y’all two created a legacy in one season that’s gonna be hard for anybody to overtake, and for what’s going on now, for Coach Kiffin to leave — go Google Lane Kiffin. I had them both do it in my office. Google Lane Kiffin, the dude they’d have built a statue of here three days ago. Google his name right now. They wouldn’t piss on him if he was on fire. They’ll do the same thing to yall to [if you leave].”
As mentioned above, having Chambliss and Lacy in Oxford automatically gives Ole Miss a chance. The former Ferris State quarterback and All-SEC rusher make up the best QB-RB duo in the conference, and it’s not particularly close. Chambliss threw for just under 4,000 yards last season despite starting 10 games in the regular season.
Lacy, on the other hand, rushed for 1,567 yards and 24 touchdowns, both top 3 ranks nationally. He’s a candidate to lead the SEC in rushing alongside Mizzou’s Ahmad Hardy.
