Pete Golding and Ole Miss are preparing for one of the biggest games in the SEC this week, as the Rebels will host Georgia in a game with major implications for both the SEC and the College Football Playoff.

On Monday, Golding said the team is not expected to have one of its best players against the Bulldogs. He announced that running back Kewan Lacy is ‘not expected to play’ against Georgia after missing last week against Auburn.

“He’s still in there with Pat, still grinding through it,” Golding said. “It’s a work in progress, but we’re not expecting to have him this week. This isn’t something that’s just going to happen overnight.”

Lacy has been battling injuries all year long, and the Rebels have struggled at times to run the ball. Against Georgia, you can’t become one-dimensional and allow their pass rush to get after the quarterback.

Shekai Mills-Knight stepped up against Auburn, finishing the game with 71 yards and a touchdown. Makhi Frazier also added another 56 yards. If those two are able to have productive games, then that can open up the play-action game that makes Trinidad Chambliss so tough to stop.

Kickoff between the Rebels and Bulldogs is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET, and the game will be on ABC.
