They Daytona 500 will kick off the 2018 NASCAR season on Sunday, Feb. 18, and former Tennessee QB Peyton Manning will help get the event started in style.
That’s because the two-time Super Bowl champion will serve as the event’s honorary pace car driver.
Daytona International Speedway announced the decision to bring Manning to the event via Twitter on Tuesday morning:
JUST ANNOUNCED! Peyton Manning will be the Honorary Pace Car driver for the 2018 #DAYTONA500!โ

Manning, understandably, is excited about the opportunity, saying in a statement that he can’t wait for race day:
โServing as the Honorary Pace Car Driver will be a truly unique and exciting experience,โ Manning said. โI want to thank NASCAR, Daytona International Speedway and Nationwide for making this possible. Iโm really looking forward to race day.โ
The 60th annual Daytona 500 starts at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday and can be seen on FOX.
