It was a good week for SEC players from a national perspective as five of them were honored by Pro Football Focus as some of the best in the nation for Week 7.
Tennessee QB Jarrett Guarantano was the highest-rated player at 93.3, but he was joined by Texas A&M’s Jace Sternberger, Alabama’s Quinnen Williams, Florida’s Jawaan Taylor and LSU’s Kristian Fulton on the National Team of the Week.
Sternberger had a 90.9 grade at tight end as he ran roughshod through the South Carolina secondary. He caught 7-of-9 targets for 145 yards and a touchdown while he also forced three missed tackles and sported a 155.8 passer rating when targeted, according to PFF.
Taylor, with a 84.6 grade, allowed just one pressure on his 33 snaps in pass protection against Vanderbilt. For the season, he has allowed just five pressures, all hurries, not allowing a single sack or hit on his quarterback on 209 pass-blocking snaps.
Williams, at 90.1, was the nation’s highest-graded defensive player with a sack and five solo tackles that all went for defensive stops.
Fulton had a 90.5 grade, and was only targeted three times and didn’t allow a catch along with his first career interception.
