Rapid Reaction: Arkansas, Taylen Green breeze past Alabama A&M
Taylen Green nearly had as many touchdown passes as he did incompletions in the Razorbacks’ season-opening win over Alabama A&M on Saturday.
In a 52-7 victory, the Arkansas quarterback completed 24 of his 31 passes for 322 yards and 6 touchdowns. He became just the second quarterback in school history to have at least 6 passing touchdowns in a single game. And with backup quarterback KJ Jackson also tossing a touchdown in the blowout victory, the Razorbacks tied a school record for passing touchdowns in a game.
Consider the competition, sure, but Arkansas was a machine on Saturday.
The Hogs ran up 552 yards of total offense and averaged 7.3 yards a pop. Adjusted for sacks, the ground game ripped off 5.4 yards per carry. On third down, Arkansas was almost automatic, converting 9 of its 14 tries. Arkansas went 5-for-5 in the red zone and didn’t turn the football over. The Hogs scored on 8 of their first 9 possessions, not including a kneeldown to end the first half.
Arkansas (1-0) will host Arkansas State next Saturday at 5 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
