Florida snapped a 3-game losing streak on Saturday afternoon in Gainesville as it upset No. 9 Texas, 29-21.
It’s a stunning result for the Gators, who had struggled mightily on offense in each of their 3 previous losses to South Florida, LSU and Miami. But on Saturday against a Texas defense that’s been as good as any in the country this season, Florida thrived.
Dallas Wilson, a freshman receiver making his season debut, seemed to make the difference. He caught 6 passes for 111 yards and 2 touchdowns in the win.
Quarterback DJ Lagway had his best game of the season, too. He completed 21 of 28 passes for 298 yards in the win.
For Texas, this is a devastating result. The Longhorns have now lost 2 games before mid-October and their College Football Playoff hopes are already in serious jeopardy. The Longhorns will face rival Oklahoma next week at the Texas State Fair.
