Reid Mikeska, a one-time Miami commit who is a 3-star tight end out of Cypress, Texas (Bridgeland), has announced a commitment to play in the SEC.
Mikeska, who is listed at 6-foot-5 1/2 and 233 pounds, has committed to South Carolina. He has a reported 46 offers, and was recruited to South Carolina by Jody Wright and Pete Lembo.
Mikeska was verbally committed to Clemson earlier this cycle, and ranks as 247Sports’ No. 45 tight end and No. 1,018 recruit nationally.
Shane Beamer’s class entered Wednesday ranked 19th nationally and seventh in the SEC, a five-spot jump from the No. 24 national ranking they held in 2022.
The tight end position has had plenty of turnover for the Gamecocks, as they saw Jaheim Bell and Austin Stogner transfer to Florida State and Oklahoma, respectively. Traevon Kenion also announced he was retiring from football. Nate Adkins is also out of eligibility after the bowl game.
But the Gamecocks also lured Trey Knox from Arkansas, and he committed earlier on Tuesday.
