Report: AJ McCarron suffers injury during joint practice with Green Bay Packers

Former Alabama QB AJ McCarron is trying to earn the backup job in Houston this preseason, but those plans took a hit on Tuesday.
The Texans were participating in a joint practice with the Green Bay Packers when McCarron suffered what is believed to be a thumb injury on his throwing hand.
Per John McClain, McCarron could miss the entire preseason, which means the Texans would have to sign another quarterback to serve as Deshaun Watson’s backup this summer:
Texans backup QB A.J. McCarron suffered a thumb injury during Tuesdayโs practice against Green Bay and could miss the preseason. He
appeared to injure his right thumb on his follow-through after throwing a pass. He left the field in pain. Theyโll have to sign another QB.— John McClain (@McClain_on_NFL) August 7, 2019
McCarron has had some bad luck and unfortunate timing so far in his NFL career, and this seems to be the latest in that line of events.
We’ll see what the official word on McCarron’s thumb is, but this doesn’t look good.
