College football’s most prominent player has tested positive for COVID-19.
The news of Trevor Lawrence’s positive test comes from NFL insiders Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport, citing sources. Clemson has not yet made an official announcement. As we saw with the sport’s most prominent coach, there is always a chance that a positive test is a false positive.
Lawrence has been talked about as a top NFL Draft prospect since his incredible freshman season. The junior is seen by many in the media as this year’s Heisman Trophy frontrunner, leading No. 1 Clemson to a 6-0 start. Lawrence has already passed for 1,833 yards and 17 touchdowns with just 2 interceptions.
Clemson takes on Boston College this Saturday at noon ET on ABC. As noted by Ross Dellenger of Sports Illustrated, the ACC follows CDC guidelines. Lawrence will need to isolate for 10 days from the time of the positive test. This means Lawrence could potentially miss Clemson’s game against No. 4 Notre Dame, which is nine days away.

If Lawrence got his positive today, his isolation would end, I believe, on Nov. 8 – the day after Clemson plays Notre Dame. https://t.co/AaWeJh3LCV
