A Sun Belt football program is looking for a new coach after Everett Withers was fired.
The report came from Football Scoop, and it said that Withers will not coach Texas State’s season finale against Arkansas State, sources indicated. The Bobcats lost to Troy, 12-7, on Saturday, which dropped the record to 3-8 this season and Withers’ record to 7-28. In conference play, Texas State is 2-21.
Texas State hired Withers after he posted an 18-7 mark in two seasons as the head coach at James Madison, including a pair of FCS Playoff appearances and leading North Carolina to the 2011 Independence Bowl.
Withers went to James Madison in January 2014 from Ohio State, where was assistant head coach, co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach in 2012 and 2013 under Urban Meyer.
