After serving as the defensive coordinator for Middle Tennessee the past two seasons (and as a co-DC for three years before that), Tyrone Nix was fired by the school in December.

However, the former South Carolina co-DC and ex-Ole Miss DC has landed on his feet, as it was reported on Wednesday that he’ll join Kevin Sumlin’s Texas A&M staff as a senior analyst:

Nix was with Ole Miss from 2008 to 2011 and served at South Carolina from 2005 to 2007. He also has a stop at Southern Miss on his coaching resume.

Whether the former coordinator eventually returns to an 0n-field role, in College Station or elsewhere, remains to be seen, but for the 2017 season, Sumlin has an experienced coach to assist him.
