Earlier year, ticket broker Jeff Cook was arrested and pleaded guilty to eight counts of theft for stiffing Georgia fans who bought tickets to last season’s Notre Dame game from him.
As part of his punishment, he was to serve 180 days in jail, beginning on Friday morning at 9 a.m. However, he failed to show up to the Putnam County Jail on time, and now the sheriff is mad.
Per DawgNation.com, sheriff Howard Sills is mounting a search for Cook:
โAs we speak, a warrant is being obtained for his arrest charging him with felonious escape,โ said Sills, speaking by telephone while vacationing on the Georgia coast. โI was present in court when he was sentenced, I made this case and he was specifically instructed by the chief judge of our circuit that he was to surrender at 9 a.m. this morning. He has not and Iโm getting ready to send the hounds to find him.โ
Cook is also banned from Georgia athletic events and will serve nine years of probation upon his release from jail.
Of course, if he doesn’t turn up soon, he may have a longer sentence awaiting him.
