Report: Touted Texas WR transfer lists 3 SEC teams in top 6

Former Texas wide receiver Ryan Newsome listed Alabama, Tennessee and Texas A&M among his top six schoolsย showing mutual interest as potential transfer destinationsย during an exclusive interview with 247Sports Tuesday night. Newsome is also considering Michigan State, Arizona State and USC.
“I know more schools will come after me but more than likely that list wonโt change,” Newsome told the site. “Iโm really excited for those schools and I know for a fact those schools are interested in me. Iโm visiting Arizona State and Michigan State next week.โ
Newsome announced his intention to transfer from Texas on Monday and was granted his release on Tuesday. However, he is permitted from transferring to any Big 12 school, as well as Notre Dame and Cal, who Texas will playย in 2016.
Newsome is a former four-star prospect and ranked as the No. 224 overall player from the 2015 national signing class. He caught four passes for 23 yards in seven games for the Longhorns last season, and heย will have four yearsย to play three wherever he transfers.
