Robert Woodyard forces back-to-back turnovers, Mizzou claims 2-possession lead over Kansas

Mizzou and Kansas went to the half tied at 14 after a wild first half saw many big plays.
The latest big plays have gone the way of Missouri, as Tigers LB Robert Woodyard was able to force an Isaiah Marshall fumble midway through the third quarter. Just a few plays later, Austin Simmons connected with Donovan Olugbode on an 8-yard pass to take a 21-14 lead.
The following Kansas drive, Woodyard did it again, this time intercepting Marshall in Kansas territory, setting up yet another Missouri score. Just like that, it was 28-14.
As mentioned above, it’s been a wild one.
Both teams started the game out with emotions early, as there were mistakes made on either side. Marshall threw an early interception, but the Jayhawks got the scoring started with a blocked field goal return for a touchdown. Missouri quarterback Austin Simmons responded with a big-time drive to end the half, connecting with former Ole Miss teammate Cayden Lee to tie the game.
These two teams used to be fierce rivals in the Big 12, but once Missouri left for the SEC, they didn’t play each other until last year. In that game, the Jayhawks were up 21-6 early, but the Tigers came back for the 42-31 win.
After this game, the Tigers will have only one more non-conference game when they host the Troy Trojans in Week 3. Kickoff for that game is scheduled for 7:45 p.m. ET, and the game will be on the SEC Network.
