Roman Harper explains what’s keeping LSU offense from reaching its ‘potential’

Roman Harper feels that while LSU‘s offense has looked good at times, it still has more work to do.
That’s partially due to Sam Leavitt’s propensity to turn the ball over.
To the credit of the Tigers’ quarterback, he had zero giveaways for the second straight week. Before that, it was an issue. Leavitt threw eight interceptions in his first six games, including three picks against Louisiana Tech. He also fumbled during the Tigers’ overtime loss to Kentucky.
The good has certainly been there, though. Leavitt has been responsible for 25 LSU touchdowns — 17 passing, eight rushing.
“The last two games, he’s had eight touchdowns he’s been responsible for with his legs and through the air (and) zero turnovers. When he’s taking care of the football, this LSU team could beat anybody,” Harper said on Tuesday’s “SEC Now.”
SEC Network host Dari Nowkhah asked Harper to describe LSU’s offense in one word. Harper chose the word “potential.” He mentioned Jackson Harris’s big game and Trey’Dez Green’s successful return from injury against Auburn.
But Leavitt protecting the ball could help get the Tigers to the next level, even as they rank second in the SEC in points per game and first in passing yards per game, Harper noted.
“(Potential) means you’ve done some really good things, but you haven’t done them all just yet,” he said.
