Roman Harper offers hilarious explanation for why he chose to play at Alabama

Roman Harper was caught at a fork in the road when it came to his college recruitment. It was either going to be Alabama or Auburn.
Harper appeared on Thursday’s edition of “The Next Round” and offered some insight into the factors that led the decision to play for Alabama. Harper attended high school in Prattville, Alabama and was a member of the 2001 class.
As fans know, Harper chose Alabama. What they might not have known is that his decision simply came down to which program had similar colors to his high school team. It also had to do with which brand of jerseys both programs had.
“I never thought I was going to have the opportunity to play college football until I woke up one day during my senior year and I saw myself in the newspaper,” said Harper. “I was one of the top players in my region and I was like ‘Dang, I guess I can go play. … I chose Alabama in completely what the mind of what an 18-year-old is. Alabama’s colors looked closer to my high school’s colors in Prattville, so I knew I looked good in them. Auburn had Russell Athletic at the time and Alabama was Nike and I had Russell Athletic in high school, so I wanted to upgrade.”

After spending time in Tuscaloosa, Harper headed to the NFL. He had 2 stints with the New Orleans Saints (2006-2013, 2016) and 2 seasons with the Carolina Panthers (2014-2015).
