Jonathan Williams has had to fight for much of his NFL career. Now a broken rib is offering another challenge for the former Arkansas running back.

The Indianapolis Colts running back left Saturday’s preseason game against the Cleveland Browns in the second quarter. According to Colts Wire, Williams had played himself into a roster spot on the 53-man roster. He’s taken advantage of his opportunities with Jordan Wilkins dealing with a foot injury. The broken rib, as reported by Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, is not expected to be a long-term issue.

Williams is on his third NFL team in four seasons, and he’s played in 14 games. Williams was drafted in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills, and also played with the New Orleans Saints. He missed the 2015 regular season because of foot surgery.

At Arkansas, Williams was a second-team all-SEC player in 2014 with 1,190 yards and 12 touchdowns rushing, as he shared carries with Alex Collins.
