Year 1 of the Ryan Silverfield era of Arkansas Razorbacks football hasn’t gone the way many hoped, with the Hogs currently holding a 3-4 record and just 1 win in SEC play as of this writing.

This lack of early success, combined with an NIL payroll that ranks near the bottom of the conference, prompted the university’s higher-ups to conduct a comprehensive financial and competitiveness review of the football program to determine what needs to be done to get Razorbacks football back on track.

Reporters asked Silverfield about the ongoing review on Wednesday, and he said it was going “quite well” and that he is “very confident” the program will have the resources it needs to be competitive moving forward.

“I’m very, very confident that we are going to have the necessary resources to be successful in the future, in the 2027 season and beyond,” Silverfield said (per Whole Hog Sports). “We have a bright, bright future here within our football program.”

The review in question was initiated by the university board of directors with a unanimous 9-0 vote following the Hogs’ 43-10 loss to the Utah Utes back in Week 2, and has been headed up by University President Jay Silveria.

The hope in Fayetteville is that this review will finally identify what needs to change so one of college football’s most underrated brands can get back to competing on the national stage after almost 2 decades of mediocrity and failure.
