The New Orleans Saints are trading star defensive back and former Florida Gator Chauncey Gardner-Johnson to the Philadelphia Eagles. The Saints receive the Eagles’ 5th-round pick in 2023 and the worse of their two 6th-round picks in 2024.
This is a huge addition for the Eagles, to say the least.
Shocker: The #Saints are trading DB Chauncey Gardner-Johnson to the #Eagles, sources tell me and @TomPelissero. After extension talks broke down, the focus shifted from keeping Gardner-Johnson to trading him. Philly lands a starter. pic.twitter.com/k6bxvziA84

Gardner-Johnson was selected 104th overall in the 2019 NFL Draft after starring at Florida. In the NFL, he’s totaled 5 interceptions in a strong New Orleans secondary, and will make an immediate impact on the Eagles’ roster.
Gardner-Johnson totaled 161 tackles and 3 interceptions in three seasons for the Gators from 2016 to 2018.
