Sam Leavitt: LSU quarterback’s injury status updated for Saturday’s against Ole Miss

Sam Leavitt is questionable on LSU‘s latest availability report released on Thursday night ahead of the Tigers’ Week 3 game against Ole Miss.
Leavitt was listed as doubtful on Wednesday night’s report, leading some to think that Lane Kiffin was playing mind games with the Rebels leading up to the monster matchup in Oxford. According to On3’s Pete Nakos, Leavitt had a sore throwing shoulder. But on Thursday, Leavitt reportedly participated in walkthroughs with the Tigers. That didn’t do much to quell sentiment that Kiffin was looking to throw the Rebels off in the lead-up.
It’s worth noting that if a coach is found to be manipulating the availability report, he could face a fine and punishment from the SEC. Commissioner Greg Sankey has full authority to extend any punishment he sees fit.
Leavitt threw for 16-of-28 for 230 yards and a touchdown — and ran for 113 yards and a pair of TDs — in a 51-10 rout of Clemson in Week 1. Despite recording 344 yards and a touchdown and running for three more during a 45-14 win over Louisiana Tech, he did have three interceptions.
If (stress on if) Leavitt can’t play on Saturday, backup quarterback Husan Longstreet will get the green light.
