The recruitment of former Arizona State quarterback Sam Leavitt appears to be drawing to a close — again.

Leavitt reportedly committed to LSU on Monday, but crucially had not yet signed on the dotted line when reports began to surface that Tennessee was making a late push for his services.

However, as of Monday evening, it’s expected that Leavitt will stick with his commitment to Lane Kiffin and LSU. That’s according to a report from CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz, who says he’s “trending toward” the Tigers.

Leavitt is the last high-profile quarterback who has yet to sign with a program for 2026. He’s the No. 1 transfer quarterback to enter the portal so far this offseason, per 247Sports.

Leavitt had a strong season at Arizona State in 2024 as he led the Sun Devils all the way to the College Football Playoff. Injuries impacted his 2025 campaign, but he’s still regarded as one of the best available quarterbacks on the market.

LSU is in need of a new quarterback as Garrett Nussmeier has exhausted his eligibility. The Tigers have also lost multiple potential backup quarterbacks to the transfer portal already this offseason.

As of publication, Leavitt has not signed with either LSU or Tennessee.
