Sam Pittman is a fan of college football playoff expansion.
The Arkansas coach was a live guest on the Paul Finebaum on Friday and spoke in approval of the news that the college football playoff would expand to 12 teams by 2026 and as soon as the end of the 2024 college football season.
“I’m all for it,” Pittman said. “I get a little bit of hesitation in the SEC because [the current system] has worked for us….But I was also at Georgia when I thought we had a top 5-6 team in the country and it would’ve been nice to get into the playoffs.”

Pittman continues on to talk about how much this will benefit the teams that tend to hover outside the top 10, but are still in the Top 25, like Arkansas. He also touches on how playoff expansion helps with recruiting, fan excitement and how the bowl games can factor in.
It’s certainly worth a listen.
Arkansas will open its season Saturday against Cincinnati in a battle of top 25 teams. The game will kickoff at 3:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.
