Scott Stricklin has served as Florida‘s director of athletics since 2016. He will reportedly stay in that seat through at least the remainder of the decade.
Stricklin and the University of Florida have agreed to terms on a 3-year contract extension, according to the Orlando Sentinel’s Edgar Thompson. That will keep him at Florida through 2030.
Stricklin hired Dan Mullen, who worked under him at Mississippi State, ahead of the 2018 season after the firing of Jim McElwain. After a 29-9 record through 3 seasons, Mullen was fired after a 5-6 start to the 2021 campaign.
Florida then brought in Billy Napier from Louisiana, who is entering a pivotal 4th season after going 19-19 (10-14 SEC) thus far.
On the hardwood, Stricklin struck gold by hiring Todd Golden away from San Francisco after Mike White took the reins at Georgia after 7 seasons in Gainesville. After a 16-17 record in his first season, the Gators went 24-12 in 2023-24 while claiming the program’s first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2021. The next season, they were national champions behind a 36-4 mark, their first title since 2007.
Before coming to Florida, Stricklin was Mississippi State’s AD from 2010-2016. A graduate of the university, he was previously the school’s senior associate AD.
