SEC announces Players of the Week after Rivalry Week

Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe received co-offensive SEC Player of the Week honors for his last-second heroics against Auburn on Saturday.

Milroe secured a 27-24 victory with a 31-yard TD pass on 4th down with 32 seconds left. Overall, Milroe threw for 259 yards and 2 TDs on 16-24 passing, and he rushed for 107 yards on 18 carries.

Missouri running back Cody Schrader also received Co-offensive Player of the Week honors. Schrader rushed for a career-high 217 yards and a TD in a win over Arkansas. Two Tigers teammates of Schrader’s also received recognition as defensive lineman Jay Jernigan won Defensive Lineman of the Week and linebacker Triston Newson won Co-Defensive Player of the Week.

Kentucky’s J.J. Weaver shared the award with Newson after a big performance against No. 9 Louisville. Wildcats wide receiver Barion Brown also received recognition as Co-Special Teams Player of the Week amid a 100-yard kickoff return against the Cardinals.

Ole Miss punter Fraser Masin shared the honor with Brown after a strong performance against rival Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl.

Other award winners include Tennessee’s Dayne Davis (Offensive Lineman of the Week) plus Co-Freshman of the Week winners — Georgia’s C.J. Allen and Alabama’s Kadyn Proctor. Allen and Proctor will take the same field on Saturday in the SEC Championship Game.
