SEC bowl projections following Week 9: Georgia dominates Florida. Can Kentucky, Miss State get to 6 wins?

Week 9 was one of the really good ones, even without the likes of Alabama and LSU in action.
But once again, most of the wacky games that make college football great happened outside the conference. Everything went as planned in SEC land on Saturday.
Let’s start in Jacksonville, where Georgia once again disposed of an SEC East foe with relative ease. Florida scored the first touchdown before Carson Beck and Daijun Edwards took over. Edwards rushed for 96 yards and 2 scores while Beck had another strong outing, finishing 19-for-28 with 315 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Still No. 1 and back-to-back champs for a reason, folks.
Tennessee scored the 2nd-biggest win in the conference Saturday, winning at Kentucky. The Vols and Wildcats diverged from the dogma as far as recent Beer Barrel matchups are concerned, with the Vols winning a back-and-forth contest 33-27. Ultimately, Kentucky made more mistakes in a game that was largely defense-free as Tennessee punished them on the ground.
The Vols remain in their place for the Gator Bowl. However, Kentucky now draws West Virginia in the Liberty Bowl.
I think Mississippi State will beat the Wildcats next weekend in Starkville. Mark Stoops’ squad is struggling. They should still crawl their way to 6 wins with a matchup against hapless South Carolina in a few weeks, though.
For what it’s worth, the Gamecocks now have to win out to reach a bowl. I have them finishing the year 4-8 with wins over Jacksonville State and Vanderbilt.
Mizzou has a new opponent in the ReliaQuest Bowl, dropping Clemson for Louisville. There’s a lot of shifting that can happen in potential SEC/ACC bowl matchups as the ACC is all over the place this season.
Auburn’s win over Mississippi State was expected, and the Bulldogs still have a path to 6 wins with a crucial matchup against Kentucky on the docket for next week.
We have a full 14-team slate in Week 10. Until next week, college football.
