There wasn’t much movement in this week’s bowl projections following another mostly routine set of outcomes.
For the most part, nothing too shocking happened — except Mizzou’s win over South Carolina. Nobody was ready to crown the Gamecocks, but rattling off 4 wins in a row should lead to 5 with a home game against Mizzou, right?
Wrong.
Mizzou was the better team Saturday, plain and simple. The Tigers are 4-4 and are officially in bowl contention. The Gamecocks fell slightly in response. South Carolina, Florida and Texas A&M are all fairly likely to finish the season 6-6.
On the other side of things, Tennessee and Georgia continue to reaffirm themselves as the teams to beat in the conference with Alabama right behind them. No changes there.
The SEC bowl lineup is similar to that of last season’s. The Las Vegas Bowl will replace the Duke’s Mayo Bowl in its rotation between B1G and SEC. If the ReliaQuest Bowl sounds unfamiliar, it’s because it changed its branding from the Outback Bowl.
As usual, the Sugar Bowl and Orange Bowl have an SEC tie-in because they are not hosting this season’s College Football Playoff. Those distinctions go to the Peach Bowl and the Fiesta Bowl.
Here it is in all its glory: SEC Bowl predictions following Week 9 action.
