The SEC is always loaded with elite athletes, and that’s no different in 2023.

This year, a true freshman from the SEC is in the No. 1 spot in Bruce Feldman’s annual “freak list:” 5-star wide receiver Nyckoles Harbor.

Harbor is listed at 6-foot-5, 230 pounds and has impressive track speed. Feldman said he believes Harbor is the first-ever true freshman to top his “freaks list.”

Here’s an excerpt from Feldman’s analysis:

Earlier this month, I asked one of his coaches at South Carolina, Jody Wright, who has coached in the NFL and with Alabama — where he worked with both Julio Jones and Derrick Henry — how he compares. “I would say a taller Julio with a Derrick Henry-type build is a great comparison,” Wright says. “He has the potential to develop into a mismatch nightmare with his size and speed.” Harbor is much taller and heavier than both former Alabama stars, and yet his 100 time in high school was almost a full second faster than both of theirs.

Harbor was a major recruiting win for the Gamecocks in the class of 2023. He was the No. 19 overall player and the No. 1 athlete in the country, per 247Sports Composite rankings.

He’s expected to play an immediate role in South Carolina’s offense to begin the 2023 season. The Gamecocks open the season against North Carolina on Sept. 2.
