Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning entered college as arguably the most hyped high school recruit the sport has ever seen, but the heir to the Manning legacy has struggled to live up to the extremely high expectations placed on him during his 2 years as the starting signal caller in Austin.
After a letdown season in 2025, accuracy issues, turnovers, and overall inconsistency as a passer have continued to plague Arch in 2026, leading many to question whether or not teams at the next level would be willing to spend a high pick on him in next May’s NFL Draft.
On3 analyst and former All-American linebacker David Pollack recently touched on the looming decision for Manning, and he revealed that an SEC head coach actually told him that they expect the star quarterback to make the move to Athens in 2027 to join the Georgia Bulldogs for one final year at the college level.
“Unless this turns around crazy, Arch ain’t going to be there (at Texas) next year,” Pollack said. “… I had one person tell me, a coach, a head coach in the SEC tell me that he would be shocked if he (Arch) didn’t end up at Georgia.”
As shocking as this move would be for much of the wider college football world, it wouldn’t be entirely out of left field if it does end up actually happening. Kirby Smart pursued Arch heavily as a recruit, and the former 5-star has stated in the past that he seriously considered joining the Dawgs before ultimately choosing to sign with Sark and the Longhorns.
Pollard’s willingness to share this kind of information while Arch is still at Texas, in the middle of a playoff push, is extremely telling and could indicate that there is some serious smoke around this unnamed head coach’s speculation.
