The Southeastern Conference had already announced the league’s 2020 Media Days event would not be held in Atlanta at the College Football Hall of Fame, as originally planned, and will instead hold the event virtually this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Now, the league has issued a statement announcing the event will not take place on July 13-16, as previously scheduled.

This update from the league comes after John Talty of AL.com first reported Media Days would be pushed back.

Here is the statement issued from the SEC regarding the postponement of the event:

As you may recall, the SEC announced on June 10 that SEC Media Days will not be held July 13-16 in Atlanta as originally planned, but would be held virtually this year, with the dates, times and schedule of the event yet to be determined.

Working in conjunction with the member institutions and SEC Network, we continue to plan and work through various logistics of the event, mindful of the new summer activity and preseason practice calendar approved by the NCAA. As soon as those determinations are made, we will of course provide that information to the media. As we enter into the holiday weekend, we felt it was best to remind everyone the event will not be held July 13-16.

We hope you have a safe and enjoyable Independence Day weekend.

We were already waiting for any news on the upcoming college football season, now we wait for news regarding when and if SEC Media Days will be held.
