With College GameDay heading to Iowa City to cover Ohio State at Iowa, SEC Nation announced Monday evening that it will be on location for Saturday’s epic SEC showdown between No. 7 Alabama and No. 16 Mississippi State in Starkville.

This choice doesn’t come as much of a surprise, thought there is one other top 25 SEC matchup — Florida at Mizzou — that was definitely considered for this week’s destination. For a lot of reasons, though, Starkville was the right call.
Mississippi State has been better than anticipated this season behind a breakout campaign from star QB Kamario Taylor. Keelon Russell is balling out in his first season as a starter, too — pitting 2 of the 5 best quarterbacks in the SEC against the other in front of the cowbells of Davis Wade Stadium.
This one means a little more to Bulldogs fans, too. Mississippi State has lost 16 straight matchups against Alabama — the Bulldogs’ last win was a 17-12 rock fight back in 2007. If you’re wondering, Kamario Taylor was less than 1 year old the last time MSU beat the Crimson Tide.
