SEC releases official media poll for 2026 season, Georgia picked to repeat as champs

The SEC has unveiled the results from its official media poll that took place in Tampa this past week.
Georgia is the media’s predicted champion for 2026. This comes on the heels of the Bulldogs winning back-to-back SEC Championships.
UGA just edged out Texas for the top spot in the media poll by a margin of under 100 points. The Bulldogs earned 88 first-place votes while the Longhorns came in second with 55. No other SEC team collected more than 6 votes to be the league’s champion.
Ole Miss finished in bronze position ahead of other CFP hopefuls such as Texas A&M, LSU, Alabama and Oklahoma.

The media poll looks similar to the current SEC Championship odds on prediction markets like Kalshi. Georgia and Texas are the clear favorites in the Kalshi marketplace, though Alabama and LSU are next up after the top-2 in that market:
The first SEC football game of the year is scheduled for Sept. 3 when Mizzou hosts Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
