Another week of college football action is officially in the books, which means the folks over at SEC Shorts have put together another hilarious skit poking fun at the conference and its members.
In this week’s episode, several of the conference’s top teams make their own campaign ads in hopes of earning a spot in the College Football Playoff. The skit is a clear nod to the midterm elections taking place this Tuesday, putting a humorous spin on the race for a spot in the 12-team playoff while also tying in real-world events.

The video starts with LSU explaining that, despite suffering a couple of early setbacks, the Tigers are still deserving of a spot in the CFP. That ad is abruptly cut off and replaced by an Ole Miss campaign ad claiming LSU paid $91 million to get smoked in Oxford, a reference to the contract given to former Tigers head coach Lane Kiffin last winter.
Ole Miss then goes on to argue that losses matter and that the Rebels are the more deserving two-loss SEC team, only to be interrupted by the Texas Longhorns. Texas boasts about its three wins over Ohio State, Ole Miss and Tennessee, insisting that “quality wins matter.”
The skit continues in similar fashion, with Missouri, Alabama, Tennessee and Kentucky all touting their respective resumes while taking shots at other teams they’ve beaten. Each school essentially runs its own campaign ad, using the same kind of tactics politicians employ when trying to discredit their opponents.
As always, SEC Shorts has found a hilarious way to capture the chaos of the SEC, and this week’s episode perfectly highlights the ongoing battle for playoff positioning as teams enter the home stretch of the regular season.
