It was another big week in the SEC as Arkansas dropped No. 9 LSU and Missouri toppled BYU. For all the glory in Week 11, however, there were also the goats.
Here’s a look at some of the not-so-stellar moments from Week 11 in the SEC.
4. SWEET KICKS
Arkansas is surging and once again earning AP Poll votes, courtesy of four straight wins. But it hasn’t been a smooth year for the Razorbacks at times, with frustratingly-close losses to the likes of Toledo and Texas A&M. If there was one play that could epitomize some of the season’s angst, it’d be this touchdown during Week 11 in which LSU’s Brandon Harris hits Malachi Dupre via teammate Travin Dural’s foot for a 5-yard touchdown to put the Tigers on the board. Fortunes, however, were on Arkansas’ side as the Hogs downed LSU 31-14.

Yes, this 74-yard Derrick Henry touchdown run belongs on a list of week’s best plays. We’re giving the chiding tsk tsk to Mississippi State defensive back Kivon Coman, however, for trying to hand-tackle a 6-foot, 3-inch, 242-pound Henry barreling at full speed. The junior Coman had nine tackles on the day but it was the elusive 10th tackle on this play that put Alabama up 21-3.
2. TARGETING OF THE WEEK
Another week in the SEC means another player getting ejected for targeting. This week its BYU linebacker Sae Tautu delivering a hit to Missouri quarterback Drew Lock’s head. You be the judge. On an out-of-conference sidebar, this Taion Sells of Baylor hit on Oklahoma’s Joe Mixon was not flagged. Watch the helmet stay connected to his head by the mouthpiece.

There’s already plenty of injury risks to players on the field. Now athletes need to be wary of their own coaches. Case in point, exuberant Georgia special teams coordinator and inside linebackers coach Mike Ekeler, who leveled Rico McGraw out of pure, blind excitement. The freshman defensive back, fortunately, was able to return to the game on the very next drive.
