With the SEC suspension served by Stewart missing the Kentucky game, all eyes are on Beamer when it comes to the standout defender’s status. During his Sunday teleconference, Beamer said he did not have an update on Stewart, but confirmed that Stewart apologized to the coach and the team.
โNo update,โ Beamer said, per Jordan Kaye of The State. โI met with Dylan pretty much every day last week and visited with Dylan today. Will keep those conversations between us, but no update right now.โ
Kaye reports that Beamer declined to answer whether Stewart could return to practice before the next game, Saturday at No. 16 Florida. Per Kaye, Beamer referred back to his answer of “no update.”
A junior edge rusher, Stewart has just 1 tackle, a TFL, on the 2026 season. He entered the season, however, hyped as a likely 2027 NFL Draft pick after recording 12 TFLs, 4.5 sacks and 8 QB hurries as a sophomore in 2025, following up his stellar debut season of 10.5 TFls, 6.5 sacks and 4 QB hurries in 2024.
South Carolina and Florida are set for a 12:45 p.m. ET kickoff on Saturday in Gainesville. Stewart’s status is sure to be a storyline until Beamer says one way or the other.
