South Carolina coach Shane Beamer could be back on the hot seat following the Gamecocks’ heart-breaking 35-34 overtime loss to Kentucky on Saturday.

The Gamecocks are now 2-3 on the season, including a 0-3 start in SEC play. In the last two losses, the Gamecocks raced out to 16- and 17-point leads, but were unable to get the job done. Frustration over Beamer’s performance is at an all-time high in Columbia, with fans ready for a new era.

Beamer’s buyout at South Carolina would cost the school $22.55 million if he were to be fired by Dec. 1, 2026. Those numbers on Beamer’s buyout come from contract details obtained by USA Today.

His buyout calls for 65% of his remaining base salary and additional compensation to be paid in monthly installments through Dec. 31, 2030, per USA Today’s reporting.

In addition to the losses, South Carolina has also dealt with a variety of other issues this season. The latest is the suspension of star pass rusher Dylan Stewart.

The schedule doesn’t get any easier in Week 6, as the Gamecocks travel to Gainesville to take on a Florida team coming off an embarrassing 45-17 loss to Missouri on Saturday.
