South Carolina running back Matt Fuller suffered a foot injury during Saturday’s 42-25 win over Oklahoma. Following the game, head coach Shane Beamer mentioned that the injury is “probably season-ending.”

Beamer spoke again on Sunday via teleconference and noted that Fuller underwent a successful surgery Sunday morning. He also noted that Fuller’s rehab will take around a month.

Notably, Fuller will miss the remainder of the regular season according to Beamer’s timetable, but there is an outside possibility that Fuller could return for the Gamecocks if South Carolina reaches the College Football Playoff. The way South Carolina is playing, there’s a chance the Gamecocks could crack the field if they win out and get some help.

Fuller has been a workhorse for the Gamecocks this season. He’s helped resuscitate South Carolina’s run game, sitting at 94 carries for 530 yards and 5 touchdowns at an average of 5.6 yards per carry, 2nd only to star QB LaNorris Sellers. Fuller attempted just 4 carries for 17 yards before having to exit against the Sooners.

With Fuller sidelined, expect South Carolina to turn to Jabree Coleman and Isaiah Augustave, who combined for 93 yards on 19 carries Saturday against a strong OU defense.
